Thayer Scale offers the most complete line of weigh belt feeders on the market
Our robust, built-to-survive feeders are available in both open and enclosed styles to meet varying safety, sanitation, or material/dust containment requirements. Thayer Scale’s line of belt feeders delivers best-in-class accuracy for rates ranging from 30 pounds (~14kg) per hour up to 3,000 tons per hour.
Belt widths can be customized from 10 to 96 inches (~254 to 2500 mm), with lengths ranging from 24 inches to over 60 feet (600mm to >18 meters), providing flexibility for any process layout. From low density wood fibers, fragile snack and cereal products to high density, lumpy, sluggish or abrasive materials such as limestone, clinker and iron ore, Thayer Scale offers custom weigh belt feeder configurations for reliable handling and accurate measurement of any material.
Our belt feeders weigh it all
Plastic pellets, snack foods, cheese products, coffee beans, gummies, coal, wood chips and minerals. Thayer Scale’s broad suite of scale technologies allows each weigh belt to be configured to provide accurate and repeatable measurement accuracy, meeting the specific challenges of any application. Key Benefits of Thayer Scale’s Weigh Belt Feeders
🎯 Broad Capacity Range
Feeds from 30 pounds (~14kg) up to 3,000 tons per hour, with belt widths from 10 to 96 inches (~254 to 2500 mm) millimeters) and lengths up to 60 feet (18 meters).
🧱 Built to Survive
Rugged construction proven in demanding industries like coal, steel, fertilizer, wood products and food processing.
🧼 Sanitary Options
Stainless steel (304 or 316) construction and wash-down ready designs with finish and construction options to meet basic sanitary to stringent hygienic requirements.
⚙️ Precise & Repeatable
Maintains ±0.25% to ±1.0% accuracy, depending on the material, technical constraints of the installation and conditions of use.
📐 Flexible Configurations
Supports open or enclosed frames, inclined or declined conveyance, and space-constrained installations.
🔧 Customizable Solutions
Tailored engineering to meet unique process needs.
⚖️ Proven Across Industries
Trusted worldwide by leading operations in fertilizer, mining, ore, coal, pulp & paper, and tobacco—our weigh belts perform across a wide range of applications.
Our Belt Feeders’ Available Technologies
🧱 Force Measurement Suspension System (FMSS)
Our patented FMSS™ technology is able to discriminate between net load measurement forces and all other undesirable extraneous forces, making load cells virtually immune to the detrimental effects of vibration, significantly improving weighing accuracy.
🪢 Multiple Scale Designs
A variety of scale designs to ensure accuracy for any material and meet the accuracy challenges of very light loading to very heavy duty weighing.
🛠️ Multiple Finish Options
Enamel or epoxy paints, plus 304 or 316 stainless steel
📏 Tail Pulley Mounted Speed Encoder
Measures the true belt speed via rotation of the idling pulley, readily detects a slipping or broken belt.
🔧 Optional Automated Test Weight Positioning System
Provides “on board” storage of the calibration test weight and automatic positioning of the calibration test weight during zero and span calibrations for safe, verifiable and remote calibration, minimizing downtime. During span calibration the test weight mechanically exercises the scale, duplicating material loading during normal operation.
🧼 Hygienic / Sanitary Design Options
Stainless-steel construction, self-draining surfaces, cantilevered conveyor, and lubrication-free components align with 3-A, NAMI, NSF, and USDA standards and allow effective sanitation with less water, chemicals and process downtime.
