"D" Scale System

The THAYER Model D was first developed for the cement industries where a weigh belt feeder must operate reliably and accurately, around the clock, week after week, with no empty belt running conditions available for carrying out calibration checks. Our scale system utilizes a non-wearing mechanism to accurately focus force to a tension type load cell. Force measurement is decoupled from load position and mass counterbalanced to accurately measure net material weight.

D Scale System

Design Principle:
The Model D suspension is comprised of a torque tube that reacts to a moment equal to the product of the weigh idler loading force and the idler's fixed lever arm distance from the torque tube. The torque created in the torque tube is transmitted through a shaft that extends through a bearing seal arrangement and is then connected to the scale lever. Our load cell measures the reaction force at a precisely defined point on the lever.

Features:

  • Not effected by tare build up on scale suspension structure.
  • Immune to high overloads caused by the occasional pinching of lumps under skirt boards.
  • Immune to the effects caused by idler friction and misalignment.
  • The load cell, counterbalance weight and automatic test weight placement device is safely located outside the material handling area.
