COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The successful candidate consistently produces accurate, high-quality parts, minimizes material waste, maintains equipment in excellent operating condition, and contributes to a safe, organized, and productive manufacturing environment through teamwork and continuous improvement.

A waterjet operator is responsible for operating high-pressure waterjet cutting machines, preparing materials, ensuring quality, performing maintenance, and adhering to safety protocols.

Core Responsibilities:
Machine Operation: Waterjet operators set up and operate waterjet cutting machines to cut materials such as metals, plastics, and composites according to blueprints and job specifications. They program machine controls using CAD/CAM software, adjust cutting parameters, and monitor operations to maintain precision and efficiency.
Material Handling: Operators load and secure materials on the cutting table, remove finished parts, and handle heavy sheets or plates safely using proper equipment. Forklift experience required.
Quality Control: Inspecting finished parts for accuracy and conformance to specifications is essential. Operators may deburr, measure dimensions using calipers or micrometers, and ensure tolerances are met.
Maintenance: Routine maintenance includes cleaning, lubricating, replacing worn parts, changing cutting heads and abrasives, and troubleshooting mechanical issues to prevent downtime.
Safety and Compliance: Operators follow all safety procedures, including pre-operation checks, proper handling of materials, and maintaining a clean work area. They report malfunctions or hazards to management and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
Communication and Coordination: Waterjet operators coordinate with supervisors, programmers, and other team members to resolve production or quality issues, communicate production status, and implement process improvements.
Additional Skills: Operators often need basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, algebra) for material calculations, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerance interpretation. Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team are also important.

Summary
Waterjet operators play a critical role in manufacturing and fabrication by ensuring precise cutting, maintaining equipment, handling materials safely, and producing high-quality parts. Their duties combine technical expertise, safety awareness, and teamwork to support efficient production processes.
