Thayer Scale, a global leader in industrial weighing technology, needs an energetic, motivated individual to join our Manufacturing Team. We are seeking a skilled Electro-Mechanical Assembler with expertise in soldering to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling and testing electro-mechanical boards, cable harnesses, mechanical assemblies. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with assembly techniques, including precision soldering, and demonstrate a keen understanding of electrical and mechanical components.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Requires the ability to read and understand schematics, instructions and diagrams. Necessary information is available within drawings and specifications. Requires mechanical aptitude and previous mechanical assembly experience and trouble-shooting knowledge.

SUPERVISION

Supervision is provided by the Manufacturing Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assembly of Electro-Mechanical Components: Assemble and integrate electrical and mechanical components into finished products per technical drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions.
  • Soldering: Perform high-quality soldering of electronic components (e.g., resistors, capacitors, chips, connectors) on circuit boards and other electronic assemblies, ensuring proper connections and functionality.
  • Testing and Quality Control: Conduct functional and visual inspections to verify the quality and integrity of solder joints, mechanical connections, and assemblies. Perform continuity testing, circuit testing, and final product inspections.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues during the assembly process. Identify defective parts and work with the quality team to ensure they meet standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate assembly logs, record work progress, and complete documentation related to assembly and testing procedures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with engineering, quality control, and production teams to ensure adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain Work Area: Keep the work area clean, organized, and well-stocked with necessary tools and materials. Follow all safety protocols and company policies.

OTHER REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • When required, provide assistance to other company staff in completion of their daily duties.
  • Respond to emergency situations.

  • High School Diploma or GED

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Requires the use of judgment to plan and perform assembly techniques.
  • Requires the use of judgement to analyze results and recommend corrective action.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification in electronics or mechanical assembly is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, with a strong background in soldering and assembly of electronic components.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in soldering techniques (through-hole, surface mount, etc.).
    • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, multimeters).
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of assembly and testing.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve assembly or electrical issues.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work with small, delicate components and perform detailed work. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Additional Skills: Basic computer skills for tracking production, entering data, and using assembly-related software are a plus.

CERTIFICATES

Valid Driver’s License.
