Thayer Scale, a global leader in industrial weighing technology, needs an energetic, motivated individual to join our Manufacturing Team. In this role, you will plan and perform electrical wiring, mechanical assembly and execute specified test procedures on a variety of products, such as, conveyor belt scales, weigh feeders, bridge breakers, UL panels and other systems. You will assemble components and wire a variety of electrical panels and enclosures using cable or a combination of cable and channel-type wiring. You will work individually or as part of a group, under job supervision.

Requires the ability to read and understand schematics, wiring instructions and harness diagrams. Necessary information is available within drawings and specifications. You will be required to know how to use a voltmeter, simple oscilloscope, speed indicator, hand tools, etc. Requires mechanical aptitude and electrical and electronic trouble shooting knowledge.

Supervision is provided by the Manufacturing Supervisor.

Plan, layout and interconnect pneumatic and electrical components and sub–assemblies per drawings and specifications.
Check all dimensions for conformity with drawings and specifications.
Visually inspect items for broken, loose or missing parts, general appearance, etc.
Check mechanical function for good workmanship and operation.
Electrical tests include the connecting of equipment to verify the quality and performance of all components and circuits. This requires the use of a variety of instruments such as: voltmeters, indicating lamps, and continuity devices.
Tester must be able to troubleshoot using existing documentation including shop drawings and procedures. If errors are discovered, tester should document errors and make recommendations for improvement.
Assemble components within panels and enclosures. Fabricate and assemble brackets as necessary per instructions.
Wire panel or enclosure per wiring-diagram and other drawings and data.
Make engineering or CAD changes or correct wiring errors per instructions.
Drill mounting holes and assemble pneumatic enclosures.
Perform inter-connection of electrical sub-assemblies per instructions.
Make recommendations with regard to product improvement or cost reduction.
Complete all necessary reports, such as, quality assurance and test forms.
Maintain work area and equipment in a neat and orderly condition.
Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
Submit suggestions for improvements to Thayer Scale
Utilize Lean management tools to improve departmental procedures

When required, provide assistance to other company staff in completion of their daily duties.
Respond to emergency situations.
Other company related duties as assigned.

Minimum of one year experience or completion of a vocational school program.
Requires the use of judgment to plan and perform wiring techniques and utilize apparatus such as; wire strippers, spade pliers, crimping tools, and standard numbering systems.

Requires planning as necessary to determine best appearing and most efficient layout of the wires.
Requires the use of judgement to analyze test results, recommend corrective action.

Valid Driver’s License.
