Customer: MeMeMe a division of Marcy’s located in Canada

MeMeMe manufactures a line of Gourmet Croutons which they sell under the name of Marcy’s as well as under private label to a well know restaurant chain.
Requirement:
Material: pre-baked bread cubes, Feeder: vibratory pre-feeder and Model SI Scale Under Feed Rate: 250-1,000 pph
Marcy’s approached our local representative and asked if there was a way to accurately weigh and control the feed rate of uncooked croutons going into a tumbler for applying cooking oil to couton surface. A crouton it is diced bread cubes and as you can imagine dice bread cubes are not the most free flowing material. They have a very low bulk density, highly compressible and interlock very easily. The biggest problem was controlling the flow of croutons onto the weigh belt.
Solution:
After a series of test in our lab it was determined that we could use a specially designed hopper that would allow the material to flow onto a vibratory feeder. The vibratory feeder than fed the material onto a Thayer Model “SI” Weigh Belt. We used a Series 5200 instrument to monitor and control the flow of material from the vibratory feeder to match the required set point. All the components were supplied mounted to a portable stand.
