Case Study: Thayer Batch Loss-In-Weight
Feeders
A major temperature sensor manufacturer uses Thayer Batch Loss In Weight
Feeders to blend multiple ingredients for the manufacture of ceramic adhesive.
Loss In Weight System eliminates costly off spec.
batches and cuts cycle time by 80%. A five ingredient cement compound,
produced in small batches of less than 50 lbs total weight is a critical
component in the assembly of heat sensors used in analyzing molten
steel.
After extensive evaluation, the customer purchased two loss In Weigh
Screw feeders and three Loss In
Weight vibratory feeders all controlled through Thayers EZ 3200 instrument and an Allen Bradley supervisory recipe management system.
This upgrade of the batch system has drastically cut loses due to failed parts,
including the component costs, cement ingredient costs, production losses, and
disposal costs. The end result is a multiplied factor of increased production
with reduced waste, for a rapid projected return on investment and a positive
net effect on the companys bottom line.
